National Spanish Exam
What is the National Spanish Exam?
The National Spanish Examinations are online, standardized assessment tools for Grades 6 -12, given voluntarily by over 3400 teachers throughout the United States to measure proficiency and achievement of students who are studying Spanish as a second language.
The purpose of the National Spanish Examination is
To prepare for the exam, students should click on these links to :
- download the vocabulary specifications for their level,
- look at the text types and interpretive reading standards for the exam,
- familiarize themselvds with the types of audio materials and the interpretive listening standards ,
- use the Online Practice Exercises as practice,
- complete the Online Practice Exams from previous years.
There are online exercises assessing:
(1) achievement of the specifications for vocabulary and specifications for grammar
(2) proficiency in reading and listening.
Practice the same level test as your current Spanish class level.
Level pre01* is Grade 6 Middle School Exploratory Spanish.
Level Pre01* is Grade 7 Middle School Exploratory Spanish.
Level 1 is Spanish 1.
Level 2 is Spanish 2.
Level 3 is Spanish 3.
Level 4 is Spanish 4.
AP Spanish is Level 5
*Entry level enrichment class where students have just begun their study of Spanish and where the class does not meet every day.

Exact exam dates will be announced, however the test will be giving during two consecutive class periods during the beginning of April.

- to promote proficiency in interpretive communication in the Spanish language
- to assess the national standards as they pertain to learning Spanish
- to stimulate further interest in the teaching and learning of Spanish
